Prior to introducing the new car-sharing model, Mobility surveyed tens of thousands of customers and non-customers to find out which routes are most in demand. “We’re very pleased to see just how many people took part in the survey and we hope to gain crucial insights from the pilot project itself,” said Mobility spokesperson Patrick Eigenmann in a statement.
The test phase for the new service, called Mobility-On-Way, began on Monday and will run until the end of the year. During this time, five Mobility cars will be available for use between Bern and Zurich railway stations and Zurich airport. After the test phase, Mobility will decide whether and how one-way trips will be made available in the future.
The car-sharing cooperative sees one-way trips as a benefit not only to customers but also to public transport since users will generally cover one direction of the journey using the public transport system and the other with the Mobility car.
Mobility customers can book Mobility-One-Way vehicles by calling the Mobility Service Center.
