The Professional Investment Screening tool allows asset managers and owners to meet national and international environmental reporting and disclosure requirements. They can also use it to measure and publicly disclose carbon footprints to stakeholders or extend mainstream financial reporting to improve understanding of risks and opportunities related to climate change, according to a statement from South Pole Group.

The UN’s Principles of Responsible Investing were introduced 10 years ago in 2006. They were developed by an international group of investors with the support of experts from investment industry, intergovernmental organisations and civil society. As South Pole Group explains in a video, the number of signatories to the six principles has since grown from 100 to over 1,500.

By launching the Professional Investment Screening Tool on this important anniversary, South Pole Group and YourSRI, a database and research engine for responsible investment products and services, seek to remind investors to integrate environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues into their decisions.
