Despite offering a sustainable approach, an investment in a sustainability fund still impacts the climate, writes South Pole Group in a statement. The Swedish fund manager Öhman is now offering its customers the option to reduce these remaining emissions by financing projects that reduce carbon emissions in developing countries.

Thanks to Öhman’s long-standing partnership with South Pole Group, the money invested in neutralising any investment emissions will be channelled to a carbon offsetting project in Mali that replaces old, inefficient cooking stoves with new efficient alternatives. The new stoves reduce fuel consumption and fuel spending, improve air quality and create new employment opportunities.

“By putting a price on the remaining greenhouse gas emissions of each fund and its respective holdings, portfolio managers and their clients can better understand the magnitude of the climate impact of their investment,” said Maximilian Horster at South Pole Group.
